The Rand-Air team exceeds customer expectations in successful back-to-back hire shut downs

Rand-Air, a front-runner in the portable air and power rental industry in Southern Africa, again successfully completed a back-to-back hire shut down for a long-standing platinum mine customer during the first quarter of 2022.

Rand-Air has been taking care of the platinum mine’s hire needs for 25 years. The experienced Rand-Air team created a detailed rental plan and carefully coordinated all logistics to meet the mine’s hire needs at three of its sites in the North West Province. The scope of supply for the third site included a total of 50 machines, made up of 19 Rand units and 31 rehire units.

During the back-to-back shut down all hire machine delivery and collection deadlines were met. Rand-Air Logistics Supervisor, Andrea Holmes and Yolande Schmidt, Internal Sales, point out that years of experience combined with meticulous planning, great teamwork and trusted rehire and transport company partners, are pivotal to the success of a project of this magnitude.

“Our Service Team deserves a sincere thank you for their hard work,” continues Andrea. “We can always count on them to soak up the pressure and deliver quality service.” In addition to allocating one person to site for the third shutdown, Rand-Air’s Service Division also ensured that there were additional personnel who worked extra hours to ready the machines. “The fact that we did not have any breakdowns on any of our Rand hire units says it all.”

Andrea and Yolande also give a shout out to the Rand-Air SHEQ team for seeing to the mammoth task of ensuring that the mine’s stringent quality management and safety and health requirements were met.

Also paramount to Rand-Air’s success is their excellent relationships with their company partners. “We often rely on our rehire partner at a moment’s notice so having trusted hire partners safeguards project continuity and short turnaround times for our customers,” says Andrea. She also points to the important role of their transport company partner who is responsible for delivering and collecting the rental machines and equipment on time. “Subsequently, we partner with like-minded companies whose narrative echoes ours in terms of quality products and service excellence.”

Rand-Air’s comprehensive hire fleet consists of air compressors, generators, lighting plants, and pumps, supported by 24/7 professional service. With 49 years of experience, Rand-Air has built an outstanding reputation as a trusted hire partner with all the necessary knowledge and know-how to ensure a seamless customer experience.
