New Dual Drive system transforms operator experience on JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders

JCB has introduced its new Dual Drive system for backhoe loaders, allowing operators to reposition the machine while remaining seated in the excavator position. The technology eliminates the need to repeatedly rotate the seat and switch to the loader controls, helping reduce downtime and improve productivity.

Available on JCB’s 109-horsepower 3CX and 4CX backhoe loader models, Dual Drive integrates drive and steering controls at the excavator end of the machine. This enables operators to move along trench lines or work areas without leaving their seat, making the system particularly useful for trenching, ditch cleaning, utility installation and municipal maintenance.

The system also expands the versatility of backhoe loaders in material handling and confined work environments, where mobility and precision are essential. JCB says the innovation builds on more than 70 years of backhoe loader development and is aimed at helping contractors, utility crews and public works departments get more productivity from a single machine.

Dual Drive will be showcased at JCB’s booth during PWX 2026, giving visitors an opportunity to see the technology alongside the company’s wider equipment range for public works, utility and infrastructure applications.
