HAVER & BOECKER Prolongs Packing Equipment Life, Increases Plant Efficiency with Rebuilds & Upgrades

HAVER & BOECKER, a global leader in packing, palletizing and bagging equipment, offers customers increased packing equipment longevity and return on investment through rebuilds and upgrades. HAVER & BOECKER’s expertise as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) provides customers with the confidence they need to upgrade their equipment. With HAVER & BOECKER rebuilds and upgrades, customers benefit from updated technological innovations — such as Performance+ Kits and other options which modernize their process and prolong equipment lifespan — without the larger investment of replacing a machine or equipment line.

“Our engineers strive to continually advance packing technology. The high quality of our equipment means customers keep these machines for years, if not decades. While they might still be working, they don’t have the modernized features that are available today,” said Uwe Golkowski, head of machine rebuilds. “We provide rebuilds and upgrades for all HAVER & BOECKER equipment to help our customers bring their high-quality system back to optimal performance and efficiency and adapt it to new requirements.”

HAVER & BOECKER’s Performance+ Kits allow technicians to replace certain assemblies in packing equipment with a modernized version. For instance, the ROTO-LOCK® Performance+ Kit replaces existing dosing technology, reducing dust emissions, spillage and product loss through its innovative shaft-sealed design with a fully enclosed metal system and a rubber interface between the dosing gates. The ROTO-LOCK® can be integrated into the ROTO-PACKER® rotary packing machine, the INTEGRA® packing machine, the ELEMENTRA® packing machine and the ADAMS® Technology. HAVER & BOECKER customers have access to more than 121 different Performance+ Kits, such as SEAL Technology, MEC 4.0, drive technology and more.

The rebuilds and upgrades option also addresses more pervasive issues. Once equipment on the packing line gets old enough, parts are no longer readily available, and maintenance intervals become shorter as equipment requires more upkeep. HAVER & BOECKER offers Performance+ Rebuilds for these situations. Service technicians convert older machines to meet current safety and energy consumption goals, extending the lifespan, increasing operational output and, in some cases, also leading to faster processing and less wear and tear on the surrounding equipment.

“One of the oldest pieces of equipment we’ve completed a rebuild on was 36 years old. The ROTO-PACKER® required updates to the packing silo, filling and dosing technology,” said Michael Gries, team leader for conversion at the HAVER & BOECKER Machinery Division. “Our technicians diagnosed the issues the plant saw with their older machine and offered upgrades to the ROTO-LOCK® and ROTO-FEED®. They saw significantly less air in the product and in the bag, a reduction in product loss, an increase in health and safety as a result of better air quality, much better layer stability, and an increase in line performance.”

Rebuilds and upgrades fall under HAVER & BOECKER’s PROcheck lifecycle approach. Often, that approach starts with an engineer conducting an on-site audit called a Plant Optimization Plan, which assesses the operation’s current performance, including the relationship between the machine, bag and product. The customer then receives a digital report and works together with the HAVER & BOECKER team to complete the suggested changes to the packing line. These suggestions can range from updating obsolete technology to retrofitting a machine for ease of maintenance.
