New Metraclark partnership provides Danfoss with local dedicated heating resources

Danfoss Climate Solutions (DCS) has appointed Metraclark, the largest refrigeration and air-conditioning wholesaler in Southern Africa, as its official local heat exchanger resell partner.

Established in 1997, Metraclark is wholly owned by Beijer Ref AB, a Swedish company listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. The company is represented throughout South Africa and has branches in the following African countries: Botswana, Ghana, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Tanzania, and Zambia.

In terms of the new partnership agreement, Danfoss and Metraclark will collaborate to target the local mining, processing, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) industries, as well as general industry, in order to grow market-share of the Danfoss next-generation SONDEX heat exchanger product range in Southern Africa.

According to Roy Naidoo, Danfoss Climate Solutions South Africa’s sales director, this is an exciting move for Danfoss, as it ushers in a new chapter for the market leader in the manufacture of variable speed drives, soft starters, refrigeration components, compressors and switches.

“Earlier this year, Danfoss changed its group structure to combine heating and cooling segments, creating Danfoss Climate Solutions. The aim of DCS is to assist both customers and partners to actively mitigate climate change and build a greener future. Our high-performance heat exchangers play an important role here, as they are able to improve performance by up to 20 percent, helping businesses to meet energy efficiency requirements.

“Our partnership in South Africa with Metraclark is significant for Danfoss in that for the first time we will now have dedicated local heating resources,” Naidoo adds.

Says Metraclark MD for Beijer Ref Africa, Jurie Benade: “Metraclark prides itself on having established an excellent reputation as a trusted supplier of quality, efficient refrigeration and air conditioning components and systems throughout southern Africa. The Danfoss SONDEX heat exchangers make for an excellent fit with our strategy.”

Danfoss and Sondex joined forces in 2016, with Danfoss acquiring full ownership of the company. The brand transitioned in 2018 to become SONDEX, a quality heat exchanger brand of Danfoss that is service friendly and easy to install.

“The secret to a more efficient installation is how closely the heat exchanger matches the thermal requirements of the duty. If the heat exchanger is oversized, it will be costly. If it is undersized, either additional heat exchangers will be required or extra, non-regenerative energy will be needed elsewhere in the process to reach the desired media temperatures,” explains Naidoo.

“Energy efficient and system-cost optimised, our SONDEX heat exchangers are instrumental in creating a comfortable indoor climate and lowering energy consumption and can be customised to meet the requirements of any HVAC application.”

“The SONDEX solutions are able to achieve very close temperature approaches and sustain energy during the transfer, resulting in a minimal loss of temperature in the entire circulation flow of the system,” he continues.

“Creating heat transfer solutions with tomorrow in mind means that we are prepared to meet both present and future requirements of low-temperature district heating systems.”

The Danfoss SONDEX range is one of the most extensive heat exchanger product portfolios on the market, offering optimised heat transfer solutions for a wide range of applications and industries. These include gasketed, welded and brazed heat exchangers, as well as freshwater distillers and plate technologies, such as fishbone and D-plates, free-flow plates and micro plates.
