SKF Tunisia empowers the next generation of mechanical engineering talent

SKF Tunisia, a well-established provider of predictive maintenance solutions, bearings and maintenance tools to the country’s industrial sector for over a decade, recently presented its condition monitoring (CoMo) systems at the newly launched national mechanical training school. Located within the University Campus of El Manar, in Tunis, the institution recognized SKF Tunisia’s expertise in these technologies and approached its local distributor, Equipement Moderne, for support in equipping the training centre, as part of a broader development initiative.

The mechanical training school specializes in industrial maintenance, training 120 students annually to meet the evolving demands of the sector. Its core objective is to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world practice, equipping students with practical diagnostic skills and fostering a new generation of maintenance technicians who can contribute to the country’s industry and economy from day one.

“With our longstanding commitment to the country’s industry, we welcomed this transformative opportunity to assist the training centre, in close collaboration with our distributor,” states Marwen Chebbi, Sales Manager SKF Tunisia. “Our MaPro portfolio offers a comprehensive selection of SKF maintenance solutions, covering everything from bearing installation and removal to alignment, lubrication and condition monitoring. These tools and services are designed to extend bearing life and enhance the reliability of industrial assets.”

“Teaming up with our distributor, we are in the process of equipping the training center with several of our CoMo products including a Microlog DBx CMVA 90-F-CK-SL, CMAC 5030K tachometer, a CMSS 908-MD magnetic base, a CMAC 5209 sensor as well as an external triaxial sensor,” shares Chebbi.

The portable Microlog DBx device facilitates advanced vibration data collection and analysis through an intuitive, user-friendly interface, enabling precise machine condition monitoring. Complementing this, the CMAC 5030K Tachometer delivers accurate rotational speed measurements critical for effective vibration diagnostics. The high-sensitivity vibration CMAC 5209 Sensor detects mechanical irregularities with exceptional precision, while the CMSS 908-MD Magnetic Base offers quick and secure sensor attachment to machinery. Additionally, the external Triaxial Sensor captures vibration data simultaneously across three axes, providing a comprehensive overview of machine health.

“These tools and sensors will assist students in grasping the principles of vibration measurement and controlled balancing,” asserts Chebbi. “They will also gain hands-on experience by engaging in practical exercises and real-world case studies, becoming proficient with cutting-edge SKF tools and staying up to date with advanced technologies even before entering the workforce.”

Chebbi adds: “By integrating our tools into academic programs, we provide students with early exposure to our technology, preparing future professionals who are already proficient with SKF solutions while fostering long-term relationships with future industry partners.”

“We are proud to support the training of future Tunisian technicians and engineers,” expresses Chebbi. “This partnership with the training center, in collaboration with our trusted distributor, reflects our solid commitment to advancing technical education and skills development, honing practical expertise through early exposure to our comprehensive suite of tools and solutions. By equipping students with hands-on experience and industry-relevant knowledge, we not only help to cultivate a skilled workforce ready to meet tomorrow’s challenges but also strengthen long-term collaborations with the industry.”

Full delivery of SKF’s CoMo suite to the mechanical training school will be completed by the end of August 2025.
