BEML gets 15-truck order from Coal India

India domestic mining equipment maker BEML will supply state-owned Coal India with dump trucks worth nearly US$53 million.

BEML, formerly Bharat Earth Movers Limited, will deliver seven BH150E 136 tonne and eight BH205E 186 tonne trucks under a trial and sale deal along with an eight-year spare parts contract.

Coal India will deploy the vehicles at the subsidiary-run Gevra, Amlohri and Nigahi projects.

The trucks are being manufactured at BEML’s Mysore complex in Karnataka state.

The company said the products addressed a growing demand for higher capacity equipment in India’s mining industry, which has been dominated by 100t-class trucks as well as tipper trucks.

BEML said: “These trucks have eco-friendly emissions certificate engines with electronic fuel management system to deliver maximum power. Its wide body design, higher metric capacity and low body weight ensures high stability and productivity. A state-of-the-art AC drive system have been engineered to provide exceptional road performance with reduced maintenance.”

Both the BH150E and BH205E trucks are fitted with Wabtec AC electric drive systems.
