Indiana-based engineering firm Matrix Design Group has launched an AI-powered collision avoidance application for mining operations.
The application uses AI and machine learning to ensure that equipment avoids accidents with inanimate objects as well as with pedestrians. The technology includes up to three 120-degree field-of-view cameras, and does not require that machines or individuals wear devices or tags.
The technology enables mobile equipment to also photograph and report breaches of safety zones.
OmniPro is able to identify and report a variety of objects, including individuals, equipment, pedestrian signs, and stop signs. Users of the technology will be able to program other objects, which can be visual, audible, or tactile.
The OmniPro can also be trained to activate stop signs, pedestrian lights, and voice alerts.
The application will also record all incidents.
The technology is customisable and can work with any operational system, Matrix said.
Matrix Design also provides applications for tracking, mine atmospheric monitoring, and proximity detection.
