The business of Prior Power Solutions, a specialist in the global market for nitrogen pumps, is expanding to include the worldwide sales of offshore tanks and cargo carrying units developed by its parent company Suretank over the past three decades.
The transfer of operations takes place today (June 1, 2026) and is seen as a strategically sound move that will give Great Yarmouth-based Prior Power an important new revenue stream that dovetails with its existing oil and gas business.
At the same time, the transfer will allow Suretank, which is based in Louth in the Republic of Ireland, to focus on its core business of Offsite Manufactured (OSM) modular units – pre-fabricated systems engineered to house power systems, data equipment, communication networks, water treatment and fuel delivery infrastructure.
The oil and gas tank business transitioning to Prior Power has been operating since 1995. Moving across from Suretank to support the new workstream as dedicated sales manager is Fergal O’Siochru, reporting to sales director Adrian Sharman.
In terms of branding, the Suretank name will continue, leveraging 31 years of design and manufacturing excellence.
Suretank tanks are used for the safe transport and storage of a wide range of liquids including chemicals for oil and gas processes, drilling processes, waste liquids and aviation fuel.
They are designed for optimum access and storage, long life and low maintenance, and built to the highest standards and safety accreditations, including PED, CEN and DNV 2.7-1 certifications.
James Rix, Managing Director of Prior Power Solutions, said he was privileged to be entrusted with growing the oil and gas tank business.
“Suretank bought us in 2015 because our nitrogen pumps complemented their cryogenic tanks for liquid nitrogen,” he said. “That logic still holds, it’s just that we will now be driving the growth, allowing Suretank to capitalise on demand for its modular units, which is particularly strong from the emerging data centre sector.”
As well as liquid nitrogen, Suretank tanks can store liquid argon and liquid oxygen, and they can be adapted for use with liquefied natural gas (LNG) and carbon dioxide. They are available in range of working pressures from 3 Bar to 22 Bar.
Prior Power can also provide a wide range of custom offshore tanks. These include mixing and storage tanks typically used for well stimulation, and storage tanks for helicopter refuelling.
Tanks can be designed to meet requirements in relation to footprint, capacity, material of construction, pressures, and valve configuration. The tanks can be purchased outright or rented.
Adrian Sharman said he was excited at the new growth opportunity for Prior Power, and the benefits to customers were obvious.
“Where in the past we might have had two Suretank businesses talking to the same customer, we now have one: one point of contact, one quotation, one purchase order, and co-ordinated lead times. It makes for greater efficiency and higher customer satisfaction.
“There is great recognition worldwide for Prior Power pumps and Suretank tanks, and now these trusted, quality brands will benefit from a streamlined sales and marketing effort.”
Patrick Joy, owner of Suretank, anticipates tremendous success for Prior Power in the years ahead. “The Prior Power business was full of potential when we acquired it in 2015, and that remains very much the case today,” he said.
“Over the years, the team has demonstrated a clear ability to take on new opportunities and successfully scale additional revenue streams, building on its strong foundations in the nitrogen pump market.
“This transition represents a natural next step in that journey, and we have every confidence in Prior Power’s leadership to drive continued growth in the offshore tanks and cargo carrying units business while delivering value for customers worldwide.”
