Askari Metals Finalizes Full Acquisition of Eyasi Uranium Project in TanzaniaAskari Metals has announced the full acquisition of the Eyasi Uranium Project in northern Tanzania through its subsidiary, Infinum Uranium. This project was identified as a highly prospective target for surface uranium deposits after a comprehensive review of geological and geophysical data. Spanning 292 km², the Eyasi Uranium Project is situated approximately 320 km northwest of Dodoma. The region’s geology is primarily characterized by the Precambrian Eastern Granulite Complex, which is associated with the East African Rift system. Geological features in the area suggest the presence of uraniferous fluvial channel systems, where uranium is likely found within coarser-grained, permeable sediment layers. Askari Metals’ mineralization model indicates potential for secondary, placer-style fluvial uranium deposits originating from primary uraniferous granites. To explore this potential further, the company plans an initial reconnaissance sampling campaign along the paleochannel systems to better define mineralization and inform future exploration efforts. The company aims to expedite a series of low-cost exploration programs designed to generate drill targets. These initiatives will include a high-resolution remote sensing study utilizing satellite imagery, ground-based radiometric surveys with a scintillometer, and field reconnaissance activities such as geological mapping and stream sediment sampling. Under President Samia Suluhu, Tanzania’s government has demonstrated a strong commitment to developing the mining sector, aiming to increase its contribution to GDP from 6.7% in 2020 to 10% by 2025. Gino D’Anna, Managing Director of Askari Metals, remarked, “The Eyasi Project represents a significant exploration opportunity for Askari and is a valuable addition to our Tanzanian uranium portfolio. We are well-positioned to execute high-impact, low-cost exploration campaigns and are eager to start work at Eyasi to sample these promising anomalous systems.” This acquisition follows Askari Metals’ earlier purchase of the Matemanga Uranium Project in southern Tanzania, also through Infinum Uranium. The Matemanga Project is currently in the application phase and is expected to progress to full grant status soon.
